Bad Advice Such As “willpower is key”

Looking around the stopping smoking forums, I am just amazed by the amount of bad advice that is freely given to people wanting to quit (actually, I’m not really that amazed!)
I once heard someone say “willpower is key”! I nearly spat my food out onto my screen when I first read that! It could not be further from the truth.
Willpower is the absolute rock bottom when it comes to stopping smoking. You know as well as I do that it is the most useless method out there, let’s not kid ourselves.
Maybe you’ve even suspected this before but still gone ahead and done it anyway. It’s normal to try to use willpower - addiction is so powerful that it knows that if someone tries to use willpower then they will hit rock bottom when they fail and may even eventually give up their quitting attempts because they find it to hard.
Don’t let your addictive instincts take you over - you know that fighting your addiction will not work so resist the “voices” that are telling you to “be strong” and use willpower.
