Bad Health Effects

We touched on this before when we learned that it is never too late to quit smoking.
First of all, you’ll start to notice the health benefits within a few days. You’ll start to cough up even more gunk than usual. This is normal, it’s a good sign!
Remember when you have a bad chest infection and towards the end, up comes a lot of gunk? This is your body saying - “I’m expelling the toxins, help me out here!” When you stop smoking, your body is basically THANKING YOU for stopping the abuse and saying, “help yourself to get better”.
Within days and weeks, your sense of smell will come back. You probably didn’t notice that it had slowly disappeared over the last few months and years but it did. You’ll start to notice all sorts of new wonderful smells. Except, those smells are not new, they’re old!
The brain has an incredible way of remembering things from smells. A whiff of something can take you back years to a different time and a different place. You’ll experience these wonders again and gain a great appreciation within days of stopping smoking!
Long term, your body will rapidly adjust to your old ways until the damage done from smoking will have disappeared. Along the way, you’ll notice that you can climb more steps or run for a taxi without getting so out of breath. You’ll also sweat less profusely.
You’ll become your old self again and one day look back at your body in two ways: your body before/after smoking and your smoker’s body.
