How I Kicked The Habit

Suggested Resources

Below are some of my own personal suggestions if you are interested in further reading or action.

Mind Sync is a long established website that offers hypnosis audio downloads with a difference. As well as traditional methods, these audios also utilise brainwave harmonics, NLP and subliminal suggestion techniques all credible scientific methods.

Mind Sync are the only people I know that offer this type of audio. There used to be another company but when I last checked, their website was down and no longer working:

Keep The Faith

June 16th, 2009  |  Published in How I Kicked The Habit

Have you ever seen the film “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”?

There is a part of the film near the end where Indy must take a “leap of faith” - literally, across a canyon.

It seems to him like there is nowhere for him to go. He cannot return back to where he came from but there is simply no way forward. In fact, if he tries to go forward then surely he will fail and fall into the canyon to his death?

What To Do With The Ashtrays And Lighters?

June 16th, 2009  |  Published in How I Kicked The Habit

So what should you do with your ashtrays and cigarette lighters?

Well, first let’s see what most people do. Most people quit using willpower so they worry about distractions and bad influences. So most people throw out any ashtrays and lighters. They don’t want to have any smoking tools handy in case they start again. They also think that throwing them out is a positive statement of their action.

The Nicodemon Dies

June 16th, 2009  |  Published in How I Kicked The Habit

We examined the Nicodemon earlier. Let’s look at him again, and his own death after you have stopped smoking.

We established that the Nicodemon is a personification of addiction that many cigarette and ex-cigarette smokers have used. You don’t have to be religious or a person of faith to symbolise the state of addiction on the mind as a convenient personification like the Nicodemon.

Cigarette addiction is so insidious and intelligent in the way that it hooks people and keeps them coming back for more. So it’s no wonder that people liken the addiction to being demonised.

Noticing A Void Is Normal

June 16th, 2009  |  Published in How I Kicked The Habit

When you extinguish your final cigarette you may feel some small elation or you may feel nothing at all.

Over the next few hours and days, it is normal to feel a kind of “void” or emptiness. This is perfectly normal to notice this change. After all, you used to smoke cigarettes and they became a part of your life. No longer will they be a part of your life.

Don’t mistake feeling a little weird for wanting a cigarette. They are two totally different things. You won’t crave a cigarette at all. You’ll feel a little strange due to the change and even more so that you do not desire a cigarette anymore.

Coming Soon: A Bright Future For You

June 16th, 2009  |  Published in How I Kicked The Habit

Allow me to give you some insight into your future. You may, naturally, be a little apprehensive about life after smoking.

As I’ve already explained, you will become like a non-smoker, but with even more knowledge about addiction. I want to tell you about your future because when you see yourself being there then you’re already half way to getting there. I believe strongly in visualising where you want to be. It may sound corny to you but nearly all successful people in life use this tool - by seeing their future ahead of them and combining it with a strong desire to achieve it, they ALWAYS do. Here’s a preview of what you can expect.
